You would think that with the clock ticking down to the due date (and I noticed that the website is now counting in DAYS), that I would be more terrified than ever before. Okay, I am. But let me tell you this...
About a week ago, I had to lay up in bed and declare that I was, in fact, ready to have Hayden. Why? Because when I lay down, my sinuses clog up and I can't breathe. I can't lay on my back, so I have to lay on my sides, preferably on my left side (all the books say this) and after a while, it hurts to lay on one side all night. Turning over to the other side is a chore also because my pelvic muscles are sore and my back is hurting. Okay, so the next suggestion for pregnant women to sleep better is to prop the upper body up on pillows. This is uncomfortable, too, if you don't usually sleep in a semi-sitting up position. And these are just my nighttime struggles.
During the day, it's bothersome to sit down because my stomach almost feel scrunched up and it's not comfortable for me and I imagine it's not comfortable for Hayden either. So I try to walk around and do things around the house as much as possible. But if I stand/walk around too much, my ankles will tend to swell a bit. That part isn't painful or bothersome at all...I can't even tell when they swell unless I look at them. So when they are swollen, though, it's recommended that I take a break and rest. Well, no resting position is really comfortable for me.
All in all, I can't get comfortable anymore. As much as I still love feeling Hayden moving around inside me, I think that Ryan and I are both pretty ready to meet her out in our world.
So, as terrified and hit-with-reality that I am now that we are no longer counting down months, I have to say, I am ready. Terrified, but ready.

The news from Keflavik NAS thus far...
This base is closing down, so we will not be here for much longer. As for where we are going after this and when exactly we are leaving here, we don't know yet. All we know now is that the base will officially close down at the end of September and they are going to try to get everyone out of here by June or July.
We will keep everyone posted and fill in the details as we learn them.Comments:Add a comment:

We had a lady from the Icelandic fire department over here yesterday to do a fire inspection on the house. During her visit, she and I had a pleasant little chat that I keep re-living, so I thought I'd post it to share.
Fire woman: Is this your first child?
Me: Yes, it is. We are so excited.
FW: Is it a ... (turns to look at my back side) GIRL?
Me: YES! How did you guess?
FW: (spaces hands apart as if to depict something wide...like a panoramic shot) Because the bottom gets big with girl babies!
Me: (speechless)Comments:Add a comment:

I had a dream last night that Ryan and I were all ready for Hayden to be here, then I went into labor and gave birth to triplet boys!! I might have woken up in a cold sweat with that one.
